SANDUSKY, OHIO — A new report by Einhouse Consulting, LLC provides an independent analysis of the Sandusky State Theatre renovation project. The report was commissioned by the Greater Sandusky Partnership to support the Theatre’s efforts and help the public better understand the challenges and next steps required to complete the project.
According to the report, a contractor was originally brought in by the Theatre’s insurance provider following the 2020 storm damages to stabilize the structure. Early work proceeded smoothly, and the contractor was later selected to lead the reconstruction phase. However, during the rebuilding process, significant disputes emerged. These disputes, along with ongoing insurance complexities, contributed to project delays and uncertainty.
There is an ongoing surety investigation which is expected to conclude at the end of July. The estimated remaining cost to complete the project will be determined at that time.
“This report is intended to provide clarity and cut through the speculation that has surrounded this project,” said Duff Milkie, Board Chair of the Greater Sandusky Partnership. “Our hope is that with this independent analysis, the community has the information it needs to come together and support the successful completion of a project that has such lasting cultural and economic value.”
