Local Chamber Integrates with Economic Development Organization

Huron, OH – The Huron Chamber of Commerce announced its integration with the Greater Sandusky Partnership (GSP) on Friday, May 3rd, at its annual celebration and awards ceremony. Starting in June, members of the Huron Chamber will become members of the Greater Sandusky Partnership.

“This decision was carefully evaluated and vetted by our Board of Directors. We believe this merger is the best way to serve our business community and support the long-term success of our members,” remarked Bill Murray, President of the Huron Chamber Board.

The Greater Sandusky Partnership, formed through the consolidation of various local agencies such as the Erie County Chamber of Commerce and Erie County Economic Development Corporation, is a shift toward a more comprehensive approach to economic development. By streamlining services under one umbrella organization, the partnership will provide a diverse array of resources and support to its members and the broader business community.

“The Huron Chamber of Commerce has become a beloved resource in the Huron community, thanks to its active board and engaged members. We hope to continue this tradition for years to come,” said Eric Wobser, CEO, Greater Sandusky Partnership.

Under the integration, Huron-based businesses will benefit from dedicated staff members and a team of professionals, including Julie Holmes, Membership Services Coordinator; Peyton Zamarelli Minich, Events & Programming Manager; McKenzie Spriggs, Director of Destinations; and Eric Wobser. This concerted effort aims to provide tailored support and guidance to local businesses, with a goal to foster growth and prosperity.

According to a statement from the partnership, the Huron Chamber members who are making the transition to its membership will continue to receive a familiar host of benefits, including access to comprehensive health insurance at a below-market rate, business-to-business networking opportunities, promotional platforms and more.

Looking ahead, initiatives led by the Huron Chamber of Commerce like the Huron Lake Front Market will continue to be a beloved community event. Now under coordination of the partnership’s team members, the event is scheduled for June 7th and 8th this year.

As a comprehensive economic development organization, led by businesses in the region, the mission of GSP is to enhance the quality of life and economic vibrancy of the region, positioning it as a premier destination on the Great Lakes. GSP will offer a wide range of services, including programming and activating main streets and unique assets in the region, traditional economic development services, regional marketing, workforce development, and advocacy.
