Founded in 1900, Toft Dairy & Ice Cream Parlor is Ohio’s oldest dairy and a fifth-generation, family-owned business based right here in Sandusky.
In 2025, the company announced a $7.2 million expansion, adding more than 20,000 square feet of freezer storage, supporting 13 new jobs and 76 retained positions. The additional capacity will strengthen Toft’s distribution capabilities while also helping address a broader shortage of cold storage in Ohio.
This project is supported through a combination of tools, including financing through the Erie County Port Authority, a JobsOhio loan, and a City of Sandusky loan, in coordination with Team NEO and the City of Sandusky. Greater Sandusky Partnership worked with the company to identify and navigate these resources.
Toft Dairy reflects how long-standing, locally rooted companies continue to invest in their future while supporting the region’s economy and supply chain. Projects like this show how economic development works, bringing together tools, funding, and partnerships to support business growth and job retention.
